Twelve years ago today Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone. It definitely was a revolutionary device.
Please read this thread that provides proper context to sharing of polling data to adversaries like the Russians.
What is also important to understand is that what has been going here is emotional manipulation, that is what advertising is all about. Generations of Americans, starting with the Baby Boomers, have been programmed with emotional manipulation, which is why now, seemingly all of a sudden, “fake news” is such a thing. The Internet is an echo chamber of emotional manipulation, which is why the social network hacking has been so effective.
One thing I remember President Reagan ask for is the ability to do line-item vetos. The thing is that the Constitution provides the power of the line-item veto to Congress through its ability to write and pass legislation. Trump is pulling an anti-Reagan move, demanding something added to legislation that Congress has passed.
Compromise, which does NOT mean that one side gives in to another, is the whole point upon which the Founders built our government.
What Trump really wants is for Congress to give him a blank check. No Congress should give a President a blank check. The Constitution gives Congress the power of the purse for reason, it’s because one of the primary purposes of Congress is presidential oversight NOT to simply to give in to a President’s demands.
I asked Google Home, “What is Michigan State men basketball team’s record?” and it responded with the record and sent a notification to my phone with the Big Ten standings. Cool.

I’ve made several updates to my wiki page on CES 2019. I am finding this a very easy way to summarize the articles that I have found most interesting.
GitHub Free now provides unlimited private repositories for up to three collaborators. I think this makes Git/GitHub more useful for storing certain types of items. One thought I have is that this makes WorkingCopy even more useful.
While watching TWiT during lunch today I learned about Mike Elgan’s Nicebook and I think it is a good idea. It relies on Google, as an alternative, but in a different way. I imagine Flickr could also be used.
I did not know that the Wi-Fi alliance has announced a new naming convention. Time to start paying attention for Wi-Fi 6.
The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starts in earnest today, and my RSS feed is full of announcements. I am capturing those of most interest to me on my wiki.
Christmas tree is down and boxed with minimal number of cuts and cursing.
I spent time today configuring Caddy on my federated wiki and now have it proxying the site and serving HTTPS.
There are friends and there are friends who you haven’t seen in years and yet when you do see them the conversation picks up practically where it was left. I had a great lunch today with such a long time friend.
As part of my exploration in to Federated Wiki, I have found an orientation site that I think provides much useful information.
Peanut allergies amongst children has increased in the last couple of decades. Why? Most likely it is because parents, with the best of intentions, are not allowing their kids to eat peanuts at an early age when they can build up tolerance.
For full leukaemia to occur, another biological event must take place and this involves the immune system. “For an immune system to work properly, it needs to be confronted by an infection in the first year of life,” says Greaves. Without that confrontation with an infection, the system is left unprimed and will not work properly.”
The latest update to Dialog has been installed in my phone and if all is well this post will appear on my blog. The location for writing a post is in the profile tab.
I made the mistake of looking at my 401k today. Thanks Trump!
