I wonder, how much of inflation is caused by Trump’s tariffs? One of the arguments that any opponent to Trump should make is that there is a difference between feeling better and actually being better, and the tariffs are a perfect example. When Trump announces a tariff his supporters feel better, he is sticking it to “the Chinese!” But, what they don’t realize is the relationship between the tariffs and increased prices because the tariffs only work if there is sufficient manufacturing in the United States. The tariffs have to come AFTER increases in manufacturing in the United States, not before, in order for them to be protecting anything.
