I am intrigued by the number of alternative social network products being developed. Some consider micro.blog, which I have been using, as one. I think of Micro.blog as a hybrid decentralized environment, but which I mean you can use it to either store content on their server, like I do, or use it to facilitate content you store an other site. I store what I write on my blog and transmit copies of that to Twitter and Facebook.
However, I suspect that if it becomes dead simple, reliable, and secure, a peer-to-peer type of network like Secure Scuttlebutt will be the winner.
