Good morning. It’s going to be a scary and weird couple of months. For those skeptics, note that some very rich people, NBA owners and the NCAA for example, are deferring lots of money canceling events. We still haven’t seen what the NHL and MLB will do, but I got to think they will do the same thing.
If you view everything in life in dualistic, for me or against me terms, then you are going to have polarization. Trump has never stopped campaigning and he views everything in terms of whether it makes him look good or bad. Has Trump ever done or said anything in terms of uniting the country?
I bet all the NFL owners are breathing better knowing their league is not in season.

I’ve been using Roam for a while and have pretty much transferred all of my private information gathering and knowledge processing into it from Tiddlywiki. The description above is the best I’ve seen yet of why I like Roam.
NetNewsWire for iOS is officially released, I’ve been using the beta version for several months. I tend to prefer using a web app to browse my RSS feeds but I’ve grown to appreciate having an “inbox style” RSS app that makes it easier to catch up with things I may have missed. I find using both a stream during the day and an app to occasionally catch up is a good combination.

As far as Trump appears to be concerned, Democrats, or anyone who does not agree with him is not an American, not a U.S. citizen and is treated with contempt. This, in the United States of America.
So, how soon until martial law is imposed?
My concern with the voting issues that have occurred so far in the primaries is that if they re-surface they will be used by Trump and the Republicans as a method to invalidate the November election, should Trump lose. Doing so will be the end of our democracy but I don’t think most Americans appreciate just how close this is from actually happening. Republicans to date have refused to put the Constitution over party and I have no reason to expect they will act differently.

The Raspberry Pi org has released a SD card imager app that is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Ubuntu. I use balenaEtcher on my Macbook Air to create boot SD cards for my Pis, but the new app from the Raspberry Pi org has the benefit of automatically downloading the appropriate source files rather than my having to manually seek them out. These days I pretty much only drag out the Macbook, which is more than seven years old, when I need to flash a new card. I would rather be able to use of my newest computers to flash images, which is why I decided to try to install it on my Pixellbook. Unforutnately, the install failed, which has me wondering whether I should create a new Ubuntu container and try again.
The kid in me wants to buy this Air Jordan New Beginnings pack because nostalgia.

I am not sure how I feel about this, but replies only appear on blog post pages and not on the main blog page so they aren’t very discoverable.
There is a big gap in how the POTUS should be hired/elected and how he or she is actually elected. One of the first questions I ask myself when determining who to vote for is whether the candidates are competent for the job. What qualifications do they have? Are they capable. In 2016 there was no doubt that Trump was not competent to be POTUS and that immediately disqualified him for the job, in my opinion.
Our country would be much better, I think, if all citizens first considered what are the skills for the job of POTUS and not what that person can do for them. Ultimately the skill is leadership, and leadership requires listening, compromise, persuasion, and humility.
What seems to go unsaid about COVID-19 from my perspective is not that the virus and its statistics alone that has me worried, it’s the virus, its statistics and the fact that I don’t think we have competent leadership in the United States (not to mention not trustworthy). There is nothing about President Trump nor any of the people who surround him, nor his cabinet on Fox News, nor his Republican colleagues that gives me any comfort or confidence.
How the Trump administration handles this crisis should factor in whether he is re-elected, but between now and then thousands of people in the United States might die.
